Hey Y’all!

I’m Derika Powers.  I have been traveling the world every chance I get since becoming a flight attendant in June of 2015.  My preferred travel style is good ole fashion pre-COVID backpacking from hostel to hostel but, now I am changing my ways to be a more COVID conscientious traveler.

I have visited 39 countries and counting so, to say traveling is my passion would be an understatement. Whether it is planned or completely last minute you can count me in! I have always had a taste for trying new foods & brews no matter where I land in the world. I love chatting with locals to get their input on what to do while I’m on their home turf and to get their perspectives on life in general.  

Ultimately, I have created Foreign A·Fares because I am eager to share about the food, culture, & history I have experienced across the globe thus far.  Aside from traveling, I love catching up with family & friends back home in Georgia, practicing yoga, learning German, and getting lost in a good book!
